Plus it can be any voice that you want to do, even just dropping to your normal flat accent. People change up all sorts of things in their voice when they change languages (tone, pitch, speed, etc.) so it’s totally okay if it’s super different! #dnd #ttrpg #dungeonsanddragons #dianaoftherose

So subtle. So smart. I saw a similar thing for how eloquently people talk depending on if its their native tongue or not but never clicked to add accents into it.

I’m conversational in Spanish so times to get no one else at the table to know what I’m talking about I’ll whip out the really fast Spanish if my character is using something like abyssal or something and no one knows the language and then I’ll follow up with the dm afterword for what I said; or - if I am speaking a language someone in the party knows I’ll write down a note to the people who know the language and the dm for what I’m saying

I love doing that. My groups do it all the time. It’s a typical theatre acting bit, so Liam doing it makes total sense, haha.

"You don't have to be good at accents" is the most important takeaway here 😂

I have a Gallus that speaks Birdfolk and Common.
His common is in a French-Cajun accent that has a LOT of bad bird puns mixed in.
Like chocolate chips in a GOOD cookie, there's at least one or two in every bite.

Plays a bit into the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis

Hopefully I'll one-day be in an in-person party again so i can put some of your tips into practice more easily.

Our orc character speaks like your stereotypical orc barbarian in common but he got to speak orcish and started spitting straight Shakespeare while the rest of us lost our minds

I have tried that...but first I suck at accents.
Second my players will meta game by using information their character...don't even make an effort...to learn or know. Because the player understands.

I can see tone and inflection carrying you far, if one wasn't confident in their accents

And if you are a crazy person who can both do voices and accents, you can just start talking in a thick British accent and then switch to speaking like stitch or goofy.

I'm around the 20th episode on campaign 2.... Liam's slight German accent??? Is already annoying... IDK WHY!! lol
