Just had long discussion with a colleague about webapps, services, lambda functions. Its important that you are aware of all different solutions but the best one depends on the context. Maybe shell script is enough.

Wasn't the refactor however akin to decomposing the product from one logical boundary with multiple independently scalable (different physical) micro-services, to one logical boundary with tightly coupled (physically) services on one machine (which could be considering composing them into a less independently scalable... monolith)? Bringing multiple physically independent services together into one major, coupled, structure? I think that's a fitting description of monolith
