Harmless!! The way I was taught as a little kid by a well-known NJ herpatologist at the Turtle Back Zoo..........think of a Scarlet snake or Coral snake in terms of a traffic light......if yellow touches red ......use caution or just plain stay away!! Jim C.

Wouldn’t want to free handle it (especially if from down south of the border). Was it from AZ?

Looks to be a variation/mutation/morph sinaloan milk snake. Definitely not a coral, though. Elapids have a decidedly different facial structure than colubrids.
