One backup is no backups.
I’m glad you all took information integrity seriously.

Wait a minute, aren’t those the drives that The Verge just reported on when they had a bunch of their own Sandisk Extreme Pro drives fail? And also the ones that WD said they “fixed with a firmware update?” Yikes!

I recommend two backups stored locally and a third stored remotely. Depending on use case, investigate cloud backup solutions but still have locally stored ones as well. If using a NAS, use drives specifically meant for NAS.

I've heard good things about backblaze, they even have a option to back a entire NAS up if thats what required ?

or if needing to keep local, look into a small tape robot with a sas hba for your server and archive to tape ?

That chicken coop in the background would be a good backup site. :)
Glad it worked out for you.

I lost a critical back up drive, then the back up of it died. Still dealing the the aftermath. Paid good money for a solution to protect my data and it failed too. What was the name of the product or solution you found or used? I need to recover the drives. Couldn’t understand the name of the solution you mentioned. Distro pro?

Why don't you use private torrent files? I know your internet connection is terrible but torrents can start and stop with unreliable internet connections and they are good for very large files.

IF only we could get Linus to come down from Canada and do a sponsored setup for you all.

You should think about a server with RAID array

Just store all your data on punch cards, it worked for IBM for years.
