Try these pro techniques to nail the perfect kick and bass every time. Start by EQing and compressing the kick to create consistency and punch. Then, EQ the bass to enhance clarity and control the low-end. If the bass is already compressed, you’ll only need minor tweaks. Sidechain the bass to the kick to keep the low frequencies clean and punchy. Finally, apply my Tight Arse plugin on the mix bus to glue the kick and bass together for a tight, cohesive low-end.

Master this strategy, and your mixes will be hitting harder than ever.

Very good technique indeed

A sampled kick that always hits at the same velocity doesn't need compression. But you might want to shape it with a transient designer for attack and/or length control. That's a different issue

The kicks from the packs are already heavily processed. And why would you compress the kick when it's the most stable part of the track anyway? I would agree if it was a live kick drum recorded in a session, but you are showing us electronic music. When I was younger, after watching such videos I would think of myself that I was a bad producer and will never learn how to make good music because you guys made it look much more complexed without reason with such tips.

I didn't know you also used Ableton Live. In most of your videos, I've seen you use Pro Tools, and in a couple I think I saw Logic Pro. But this is the first time I see you use Ableton Live. Interesting.
