Hello doctor, i am 39 years old and a mom of 3. I had epilepsy seizures when I was a kid around 6 til when I was 12 years old and til date I have not have it. But my number 3 who's 11 years old now started having seizure in August 2021when she was 8 years old, It was just an absence without convulsions around 5 minutes. We went to the hospital because she was complaining about a severe headache. But before the seizure, she used to complains about constant headache. So, from that date, we did the EEG and IRM and the results came normal and the neurologist concluded that she has not epilepsy. The 30/1/2023 she had the real seizure with convulsions and it was very brutal. We did an IRM it came out normal. again. From 30/1/2023 to 16/7/2023 there where no seizures and she was taking CBD oil +MCT oil. Then she had a seizure the 17/7/2023 and from that date til date , in March 2024 we went for an EEG again and they have found out that she has an idiopathic epilepsy and should had started with lamotrigine, but we were skeptical to it, because of the side effects and wanted an other solution as for her case, she was having it with 1 to 2 months intervals and just once a month. But now as it is, she is having a seizure once or 2 a month, while she continues taking the CBD oil and the MCT oil. Notes that the seizures comes almost the same date every month and usually when her period is about to come in like 4 days to one week. Last year in totale she had 5 seizures and this year she has had 7 times til date. What shall we do in her case? Begin with the treatment or do what?
