Did not mean to sound like full blame is on Salah for 2018. He scored 2 goals in the tournament, but I had to cut that part out to keep the video under a minute

Many thought Egypt would go beyond the group stage at Russia 2018...

I’d say Mexico is a bigger failure than Egypt. Although Egypt is a decorated team in Africa, I don’t think anyone expects them to do well at World Cups. Mexico on the other hand is one of the most football crazy nations on Earth, yet they have never made it passed the Round of 16 despite qualifying for almost every tournament.

They should have qualified for the 2010 world cup. But Algeria got there instead. In that same year, Egypt whooped Algeria in the AFCON semifinal with Algeria getting three players sent off.
When Algeria got to the world cup, they finished bottom of their group with 1 point out of 9. Disappointing.
I really wished Egypt were in that WC instead of Algeria.

In 2006, they won the African Cup of Nations and despite being undefeated their entire World Cup qualification campaign, they still didn’t make it to the tournament that year, as their closest attempt was a play off round with Togo.

2018 was such a huge disapointment. It was their comeback to the World Cup, expectations were high and Saudi Arabia, who had been beaten badly in the first match, would defeat Egypt, the first win for Saudi Arabia since 1994.
I think 1990 performance was good though. Netherlands was the reigning European champions, England was so strong and Ireland had made a good campaign in the EURO 88. Egypt was quite close to making it to the knockout stage.

Everyone also always forgets that England won a World Cup
I was talking to my friend the other day and he said “England has never won a World Cup” and I genuinely thought he was tweaking

Salah was the reason Egypt could tactically attempt to compete and might find emotional courage to play tough and smart. Without him, that team had nothing on any of the European or latin American teams. Let’s also remember that succeeding in a World Cup involves a ton of different factors all of which have a very small window. I’m not saying you’re being tough on Egypt, I just think anyone that expected them to do better than they did clearly started watching the sport in the last ten years.

Egypt's achievements between 2006-2010 (make sure you click to read more ;)

-AFCON 2006
-AFCON 2008
-AFCON 2010
-Beat Prime Italy (Pirlo, Buffon, Cannavaro) 1-0
-Lost to a last min penalty to prime Brazil 3-4 (Kaka, Alves, Lucio)
-Peaked at #9 ranked globally, stayed at the top 10 for nearly a year!
-The team contained Ahmed Hassan (most capped African player ever) Essam El-Hadary (Africa's unanimous GOAT GK) Mohamed Aboutrika (Considered by many to be the greatest player to never play in Europe or South America) and Mohamed Zidan (2x Bundesliga Champ with Dortmund) alongside many other legends
-Rightfully qualified for the 2010 WC, but in an odd series of events, would lost out in a one-and-done match against Algeria
-Al-Ahly won the Champion's League twice (2006,2008) and runner-up in 2007

Simply greatness, shame we never witnessed the greatest African team of all time in the World Cup, they would've seriously shocked the globe!!

1974 world cup was a glorious failure for both the Dutch and the Scots when.
Dutch: failed to win the tournament with total football.
Scots: unbeaten with 2 draws ( against Yugoslavia and Brazil ) and a win ( Zaire/ DR Congo )
