Im actually loving the exposition this season, because its clearly setting the series up for a major conflict at the end of the season. This entire season has been context for a larger point in the plot. We already know for a fact that the show isn't afraid to go all out with the action (Rimaru vs. Orc lord, Shion vs. Clayman, Millim vs. Carrio, basically anything Hakuruo or Soei do on screen.) So the we can count on the climax being just as satisfying as the build-up.

The problem is that lots of viewers aren’t able to pick up on something unless it’s told to them directly. I’ve seen a lot of people who don’t understand Geto’s character because it wasn’t directly explained. They just think he’s crazy and started killing people for no reason. And I can’t really blame them. I think even Danny was confused on why Geto snapped and Nick had to explain it to him.

The best part about world building, is letting the audience put those pieces together. Have a scene play out, or show an object or other thing in the world that shows up again or relates to another thing in that world. and let the audience piece them together that this is something existing in that world.
like the iconic music in the Mos Eisley cantina. No one needed to stand there and explain that it's a popular music. It's literally being played live in the cantina and people are there enjoying it. Having some dude explain that would take audiences out of feeling like they're discovering the world for themselves, and are instead being given a cheap tour.

I dont mind an episode or two of pure dialog as long as its fairly interesting. And i think hes right in calling it exposition. And many stories and arcs need a good bit of exposition to get going. And im hoping it just slow now, so they can keep a fast pace later. Sonce season 1 and 2 were kinda 1 longer story of rimiru becoming a demon king, it makes sense they gotta sdart building again

I think this part of the show is more politics than world building and u may not like it (I personally do) but it's the writer of the show Fuse sensei's favourite genre and I don't Think it's nice to criticise a show because the creator includes something he likes every once in a while. Plus the next remaing part of the season to come is definitely worth sticking around for

Go read ascendancy of a bookworm if u like world building. It’s slow burn but it gets so good. The next season of the anime was announced back in April or something. And even that season isn’t where it goes hard. There’s like 5 parts and several volumes in each. The last volume also came out in April too. GET ON IT!

Its Japanese politacal fiction with a backdrop of action and comedy...the show has always been this BUT this is the most complicated part of the story and has so many moving parts....what i think they messed up on is the length of time between the seasons, Claymans death was the most significant change this world has seen to this part and the impact of the last season was lessoned....

While I agree, I feel like there are somethings that just have to be explained. Example this entire season of slime. Has been politics between nations and some corrupt business people trying to stop Rimaru from becoming a super power of commerce and trade, on top of planning a way to explain to the people why their chosen champion is suddenly cool with monsters.

Big props to Danny for correcting Nick on this, because can you imagine how much cred Nick would lose if he just went around saying he hates worldbuilding? People would think he's just here for big flashy sword go voom.
