Yeah and if I can’t get my soft backpack in there because everyone is taking up space putting their luggage in flat, I am the one who will move someone’s bag 😂. #sorrynotsorry and #thinkofothers

This kind of depends on the aircraft. On some aircraft, you can't store most standard carry-ons on their side and you HAVE TO put it flat as this means less height, but if given the choice, yes, you should put it on its side to help save space.

The bins in a 777 are a not good, on the window site you can put 4 to 5 trolly's vertical but on the bins above the middle you can put only 1 trolley flat in that bin.
But a lot of FA do not know also that you can put more in the bin if you put the trolley vertical in the bin.

I’ve flown on planes where wheels out and flat are the way you’re supposed to do it. And on planes where a bag goes in the bin lengthwise and flat. And on planes where you put them on their back or side with the wheels in first. You have to pay attention to the signage.

I prefer to store overhead luggage whichever way fits and takes the least room. Large bins, wheels first and to the side in smaller ones.

It's a shame flying now revolves around people bringing their luggage on board. It didn't used to be that but now rolling luggage makes it easy for people to move it around the airport. Then you add the 60 dollar fee and too many people want to bring their luggage. Also, many people have electronics that are not checked.

They literally tell you how to put up your suitcase - but most people ignore them. Maybe you should do a video on how people should learn to respect and listen to the people they are literally paying to be experts in something - from flight attendants to doctors.

Most flight attendants will say flat stack it, not side stack it as this lady is saying. So guess she is telling you the incorrect way. The biggest reason why you flat stack it is the bin will close. The way she says will make sure the bin does not close.

How it loads depends on aircraft, 777 needs typical carry on suitcase to lie flat while 787 can have them vertical. Airbuses can vary as well, but it is always good to try vertical first and if it wont fit bin that way it can go flat.
