Growing up french in england, i was always so damn confused when people related ratatouille to rats, especially beacuse I didn't know what the word rat meant in english
(Edit: Damn, I was not expecting people to actually see this. Okay, so basically, to explain. I was born in france and moved to england when I was really little, like 3, and I only spoke french at home, so tbh both my french and my english were quite broken until I was like 12. And when I was like 5 I had never seen a rat irl, but in my primary school, there was a shrew that lived in the playground, and so, my child brain just decided that the shrew was a rat, and that shrew must be the english word for rat, which is why I was confused. But this was years ago, and I don't really remember all the detail, because, y'know, I was 5, but I remember being confused about it. Sorry my wording was bad originally, I now realise it was kinda misleading, hope this clears it up)
And as a btw, I'm a guy, and I tend to use he/they pronouns

i'm french but that's my first time seeing someone bake ratatouille in the oven. normally you have to let all the vegetables simmer together in the juice from the tomatoes
