Video did a great job showing why plate armor was used for so long in history, itβs really the pinnacle of protection, and itβs easy to see why. Also good job busting a lot of the myths surrounding warhammers and pole axes and such and their piercing capability.

There is one thing to bear in mind: wounds can be just as bad. Way back when, a broken bone or an open wound on a battlefield could be as lethal as a killing blow, albeit over time. Having only limited to no medical help available mattered. So then, while lacking any better choice, iron would do, it would be advisable to use other protective means, too, with at least a gambeson being on the list.
