Yes, yes I did know. You want to know how I knew?
For my 20th birthday my dad asked what I wanted, I asked for some Wii Remotes and Nunchucks. Now Metroid Prime was my favorite game ever since I had played it as a little kid, so you can imagine my excitement when I bought the Prime Trilogy on WiiU and had it staring me in the face for month before I got the remotes in for it. āFinally, after 15 years Iāll be able to experience these games againā I had said to myself. So finally the third party remotes came in and I went to replay my favorite game for the first time in 15 years, and my cursor was all over the screen at once at random times. I went to bed kinda bummed, but the next day realized what happened. I had the game pad sitting under the normal sensor bar while it was set to āGame Pad and TVā mode. I had to share tv at the time so I preemptively told it to do that for when my brother came downstairs to use the Xbox. So how I connected the dots and felt very relieved that the only thing wrong with those third part my controllers was that they chewed through two AA batteries every eight hours.
TLDR: Birthday blunder that led to me setting the game pad too close to the sensor bar, while having it display the game on the game pad and TV at once. (Face palm)
