Breathing Technique: Pursed Ljp Breathing

Do you struggle with asthma, shortness of breath, or COPD?

Pursed lip breathing is a technique that helps remove excessive carbon dioxide by generating positive pressure within the lungs.

This helps to decrease work of breathing, improve relaxation, decrease CO2, increaSe oxygen and improve overall gas exchange.

The key is to make the exhale longer than the inhale.

Adding a pause at the top of the breath can help to further increase oxygen in the lungs via something called collateral ventilation.

Try for 3-4 breaths at a time then return to regular breathing.

Do you struggle with asthma, COPD or shortness of breath? Let me know below and how you deal with exacerbations.

I don't experience any issues during strenuous exercise, and I didn't encounter breathing problems when I had COVID or received the COVID vaccine. Even in extreme weather conditions or dusty environments, and without any panic triggers, I still occasionally experience shortness of breath 3 or 4 times a year, as I have since childhood, for no apparent reason, sometimes even when I'm at rest.
