Yeah, this happened. Escorts quests were so bad. I think there was in RFK(or RFD) where I swear 1 hour because the escort would aggro packs and packs of adds.

I love whem the weak escorts who can take more than four hits would run full tilt into giant monsters 100ft away and hit them with their flower basket/fishing pole, while screaming for help.

The traitor escort in Westfall, from the tower to the mine in Moonbrook. The dude goes out of his way to aggro the very people he is supposed to be sneaking past. In the newer expacs they took that dude from the game.

Another terrible part about these quests is how if ANYONE picked it up, the fuckin npc would just be completely gone until the person got to the end point.

Painfully true. Should put one where in original WoW the Alliance Flagged NPC would be killed from a distance before he could complete the Westfall Deadmines quest to show you the location. Same as Outland Blood elf pilgrim escort rescue quest from the Horde side.

There is a low-level escort quest in Morrowind that had the opposite problem. The mage in question comes equipped with massive AOE fireballs. And if you are standing too close to a bug that he decides to incinerate, well you are just collateral damage.
