Fun fact, ‘Caesar’ was actually a nickname for him meaning bald. Caesar was bald. Also, it was pronounced Kaizar, which is where the germanic ‘Kaisar’ and the Russian ‘Tzar’ comes from, both meaning emperor. Emperors throughout history unknowingly declared themselves bald.

I think its important to note he went to gaul not as an officer but a Governer and conquered what was considered impossible. A position he got from befriending Crassus which he did after he became known to him while serving under him as an officer during Spartacus' uprising which he disobeyed Crassus' orders and made an offensive move against the revolting slave army at night causing disarray which culminated in Spartacus retreating and giving up his defensive position. In fact many people thought Crassus was only Successful because of Gaius' tactical aptitude. Which would explain why despite being from a fairly prominant family he was able to take the position of governer despite being really young for the job at the time. Because well After the slave revolt Crassus wasnt just the richest man in Rome and a politician but a public hero aswell the least he could do was reward his best asset. There is just so much about the man thats really interesting.
