🎥 1. Set your channel up for conversions first.

👉🏼 If you’re attracting new viewers and subscribers, you want them to be able to connect with your business.

🎥 2. Don’t niche down too much.
👉🏼 Your niche is YOU. The cross section of your expertise and your personality.
👉🏼 Make sure you don’t just post about one thing all the time.

🎥 3. Vary your video formats and types.
👉🏼 Are you trying to show your expertise? Or connect with your viewer on a deeper level? Or comment on a current event?
👉🏼 Will you shoot your video as a vlog? Or direct-to-camera with your standard background?

🎥 4. Step 1 of planning your videos is ALWAYS keyword research.
👉🏼 I use TubeBuddy - and teach all my students how to use it for their videos.

🎥 5. Use a script when filming. Just do it.
👉🏼 This keeps you from rambling.
👉🏼 This will keep people watching your videos longer (keep reading to see why this is important)

🎥 6. Don’t stress about analytics. Data is just a tool.
👉🏼 Sometimes videos don’t pick up until three months after they’re posted.
👉🏼 Use the information you get from analytics to make your next videos better - don’t beat yourself up about a “bad” outcome.

🎥 7. Understand the YouTube algorithm - but again, don’t freak out about it.
👉🏼 Focus on getting people to click your video (this means having a good thumbnail and compelling title)
👉🏼 And once they’ve clicked your video, keep people watching your videos as long as possible (this is called retention)

🎥 8. Remember - quality content that is optimized rises to the top.
👉🏼 Focus on retention! High quality content that gets watched all the way through.
👉🏼 SEO is a big factor here too! It helps YouTube categorize your video and show it to the right viewers

🎥 9. Brand your channel so you can stand out.
👉🏼 Use your brand colors and fonts in your cover image and thumbnails, and in your videos!

🎥 10. Cross-pollinate on other platforms.
👉🏼 Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, your email list - wherever you’re active!
👉🏼 Any way you can drive more traffic to your video is great for channel growth.
