I don't know if I'm doing it right, but I try. I've taught my kids to not get upset by spills but to be proactive about it. So I don't say things like "Why did you do that?" Or "Pay attention" but rather "Okay, let's move anything that can get damaged and go get me a towel. Can you race to get the towels??"
When they were toddlers/preschool I noticed they would freeze up when they spilled something. Like they were waiting for the "You're in trouble" lecture to drop even though I never went that route. They still see the panic...I mean, we often have electronics around and this is America so freaking everything has red dye 40 in it! LoL I've really tried to let them know it was urgency not anger. "No, Mommy's not mad but let's get those paper towels before your tablet gets wet!"
Anyway, I think it's been helpful. My kids are 6, 8 and 10 and the only way I know there has been a spill these days is somebody goes racing to the laundry hamper for a dirty towel. Nobody gets upset, they take action and solve their own problems. They'll call me in for back up if they think they need help.

It's natural to spill and drop things as a kid. They haven't gotten as much practice with holding things as we adults have, so you can't expect kids to be able to do everything an adult can because of that. Everything you do comes from practicing and trying more or less. Even adults can spill or drop things, and as you point out, we don't say things like that to adults. Kids need encouragement and reassurement, and spilling isn't the end of the world.

silly mistakes, its ok to make them, but in generell as a person I dont like clumsiness, if u do mistake 3 times its funny, if u do the same all the time 11th time its starts to get annoying :P but ususally its still funny tho. But as you say yes it should not be done to children, adult clumsiness tho is another thing :P
