Day 26 of 29 simple daily activities.
Today we made crystals using:
3/4 cups Borax
-2 cups boiling water
-pipe cleaners
-thread
-popsicle stick
-a jar
Start by shaping your pipe cleaner in the shape you'd like your crystal and tie your thread at one end of it. Then tie it to the popsicle stick, test and make sure the pipe cleaner is not touching the bottom or any sides of the jar.
Mix your borax and boiling water together until the borax is completely dissolved. Pour the mixture into the jar and adjust the pipecleaner to sit in the middle. Leave for 8-24 hours, remove and dry on papertowel. Cut the thread as close to the crystal as possible.
These are great for decoration or a treasure chest! To preserve your crystals you can also spray with an acrylic spray and will give it a protective glossy finish.
