I’ve been really curious about those compact kitchen composters – the kind that claims to transform scraps into fertiziler in just a few hours.

Vego was kind enough to gift me a composter (thank you!). I’ve been testing it over the past few weeks and I definitely have some thoughts.

The pros - it really works! I’ve been using it to break down the majority of my kitchen scraps and add the composted materials to my garden. It’s a convenient way to cut down on waste. I think it would be great for an apartment.

The cons - I’ve found it is kind of stinky in some modes. What can you expect? It’s breaking down waste. But I can imagine things getting pretty funky if you keep it running on your kitchen counter all the time.

I’ve been keeping it downstairs where the odor won’t bother me. I’ve also noticed that certain modes smell more than others. So far, Express Mode doesn’t smell at all… but more experimentation to come.
