I havenât heard ANYONE claim that we have actually found life on a distant planet.
Not even the usual suspects.
Iâve only heard that âwe THINK that we MAY have seen DMS on a distant worldâ, and that âthis is interesting, because the only way that we know for sure of this being produced here on earth, is by life (like some kind of algae or plankton or something)â.
Everyone that Iâve seen talking about this, is very quick to point out that we shouldnât jump to any conclusions just yetâŚ. and that much more research is needed before even the vaguest of guesses can be made.

Just because DMS is present on earth because of life doesn't mean it's life if we confirm its presence. We know next to nothing about exoplanets so who knows what could be producing it... assuming it's there in the first place

Interesting! I think there are plenty of life on all of these planets that we canât physical inspect. Life on Earth was so sporadic that it be odd not have it occur else where. And just by math alone, itâs undeniable that these random outcome is high considering the staggering number of celestial object in the known universe.

Hi David and everyone, when jwst checks exoplanet atmospheres, how do we know its not an exomoon orbiting the exoplanet? Couldnt exomoons be detected this way by taking measurements at different time periods when the moon might be behind the planet and again when the star's light would pass through?
