I remember DJing at the bomb in Nottingham (a week before Sashas amazing Guestlist only Xmas party) playing future club classics, it was December 1997, so the set consisted of tracks from 92-97, real hands in the air to a packed dancefloor in room one we (my best mate and I) were the warm up act I suppose playing 10pm - 12am. After us some lad came on the decks and insisted on playing industrial techno to a crowd of say 60% 21 year old girls! Killed that dancefloor in two tracks........ At that point whilst me and my mate were having a cheeky pint at the bar, we were asked to go back on until close...... These days with the usb stick the list of tracks is endless, that night it was a good job we took a full record box and record bag each and took over playing tracks they all wanted to hear and dance to.
Classics from that night included
Shades of rhythm - sound of eden
Pizzaman - babyloop
Jimi Polo - better days (Sasha DMC mix)
Blackout all-stars - I like it like that
The list was endless.... Good times

100% correct. The way i used to explain it to my students back in the day, DONT PLAY "AT" THE DANCE FLOOR, PLAY TO THE DANCE FLOOR, in other words don't try and educate them, dont act like your above them, put yourself on the floor and party with them. your one and only responsibility is to entertain your crowd, take them on a journey and make sure they are having an EPIC AF NIGHT!! Reading your crowd correctly is the only way to keep building your reputation not to mention getting regular gigs if not a residency or 3.

I would love to hear a set of everything you love not thinking about anyone else. Thats how tiesto became so big, he just played what he liked and didnt care about what anyone thought which is why he has some of the most unique dj sets of all time. I like the vocals and remixes and have seen you live in SF, truly amazing skills, but i hope you start playing mostly original stuff that we havent heard before. New vocals, new sounds, etc. innovate more than remixes and with ur skills you can be the best to ever do it

Amen to that brother, don’t matter what tricks you do if you’re playing songs that aren’t moving the floor
