Water charging resistors are commonly used in pulse energetics techniques. Sometimes it is made with copper sulfate solution for lower resistances, acting as a load. But water capacitors with a constant charging voltage are not very good. Typically, water is filled into the low-impedance pulse forming lines with microsecond charging times and nanosecond discharging times. The most powerful pulse generators in the world are built using this topology, which are used for pinch-starting thermonuclear fusion, with a peak pulse power level up to hundreds of terawatts.

Went from 3 parts to how many plus power supply? Inner water cup, outer water cup, salt(?), tubing, nails, bolts, acrylic piece, L brackets, nuts and bolts, alligator clips, water, and a power supply... Seems like using a capacitor and resistor with those metal balls would be easier. It is a cool experiment, just not a simplified way as the video implies

You need just these 3 things ... And the strong power source of course đ
