I have a big problem with the safety of products targeted to women and applied by women because if those exact same products were used in an occupational capacity by men, there would be safety studies and a clear understanding on appropriate PPE that should be used or development of new ones.
I'm glad I've kept my nail polish - I love gel and I used hematology free products, but I've reduced my frequency of use because this isnreally worrying

As a licensed nail technician who specializes in gel, I would try to talk clients in salon OUT of getting dip when they asked for it. The glue system is not better than acrylic or gel systems due to the brittle nature of the adhesion you have with dip. Not to mention dips cross-contamination issue that is unavoidable. I personally never saw the "benefits" of the dip system, and it all seemed like marketing hype/lies.

I work in a dental office and I had no idea about this. At least we aren’t allowed to do our nails anyway but worried for the general population when someone may need a dental implant crown, root canal, filling, or even Invisalign/braces. They all use the same family of light-cure resin like dip gel or builder gel uses but at prescription level purity, at least as far as I’m aware (I’m not the Dr.)

I can't see the text you're refering to at the bottom because Youtube now puts the top comment there. Just so you know!
I stick to regular polish, it lasts a week on me and I want to change it that often anyway. I think we're going to see more legislation come out for nail products in the future. It's kind of the wild west right now with everyone using professional grade products at home without education or knowledge about the quality of the products.

This is very informative thank you. I spent a lot of money on a Sassy Saints dip powder kit as I thought it was a safe option compared to gel nails, sounds like I was very wrong! There's been media coverage previously on allergy risks of gel nails, but not dip powder. I'm surprised these companies are allowed to sell these products without being clear on the risks. Had I been aware I would have avoided the dip powder.

And this is why these products used to me sold to professionals only. Dip is "lazy acrylic" so every person who got on the acrylic is terrible train and then started using dip thinking it was healthier.... plot twist. Also most nail techs have transitioned to LED cure lamp for gels instead of UV for this reason but when you don't understand the products you're working with, you don't know that. #protip

I used to be a nail tech & I had to completely stop doing nails professionally bc I kept getting sick. Mask, ventilation etc was not helping. I miss it but my health is way more important
