Why Do We Do Non Linear & Circular Runs?

It is not because you run a in circles during your sport, even though most of the time during field sports (football, soccer, lacrosse) you will be running in a non-linear fashion.

We are doing it to expose your body to some of the in game demands that athletes will face, it is a way for us to make training a bit more sport specific.

We observe that there are significant differences in joint angles, ground contact time, propulsive forces and multiple other athletic qualities that are essential in multidirectional sports.

“During a curved run an increase in body lateral lean at touchdown resulted in a number of asymmetric kinematic modifications. Whilst the left limb demonstrated a greater peak hip adduction, peak hip internal rotation and peak ankle eversion on the bend compared with the straight, the right limb was characterised by an increase in peak hip abduction.
