Have a 99 year old ww2 vet neighbor. He hasn’t drank a sip of alcohol since he was in the service… over 70 years ago. He got so drunk he blacked out and woke up in a new barracks with new clothes and in a different town. Said he’d never do that again 😂😂😂 his wife has never drank ever either. Absolute wonderful people and basically like another set of great grandparents to

It's called moderation and it's a word to live by. For an alcoholic it's just not possible. It always leads to excess.

He’s literally the only guy other than my deceased grandfather that I ever heard speak of whisky ice and water as a “highball” at 44 it’s my preferred drink because like my grandfather said you don’t get a hangover if you’re not drinking that sugary crap

My grandfather lived at 17 years old in 1945. He described guys coming home from WWII, and they were off work for 12-24 months. Government paid them for retiring from duty.

They immediately flooded the bars. Burned the courthouse down in Victor Iowa lmao. He woke up at like 2 AM to a bunch of drunk marines lighting that up.

He said it was paradise living in America then. The economy and housing was BOOMING. Invention of the suburbs. (He told me this like two months ago he’s still kicking at 94) 😀

I know a 28 year old who spent their last 5-6 months in the hospital because of Cirrhosis.. Shits serious. Once you have that addiction it’s not only hard but dangerous to kick the habit.. Hopefully that puts it into perspective for anyone who isn’t too deep yet.
