🚨 Trump, Tylenol & Pregnancy: What’s Really Going On? 🤔🍼

Recently, Donald Trump made headlines by claiming that taking Tylenol (acetaminophen) during pregnancy could increase the risk of a child developing autism. He said it should be avoided unless the mother has a very high fever, and suggested the FDA would act on this with new labeling and guidance. He also promoted a supplement called leucovorin as a possible autism treatment.

Let’s unpack this. 🧠
👉 What the science says:
There have been studies showing a possible association between prenatal acetaminophen use and a higher risk of autism or ADHD, but these are mostly observational studies. That means they can show associations, but they cannot prove causation. Other factors (like genetics, environmental exposure, or the underlying reason for taking Tylenol) could be at play.

👉 Major health organizations like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) still recommend acetaminophen as the safest pain reliever during pregnancy, when used properly and in moderation. It’s often prescribed for headaches, fevers, or pain, all of which, if left untreated, can also harm the baby.

👉 A newer Swedish study looked at over 2.5 million children and found no strong evidence linking acetaminophen use to autism after controlling for familial and genetic factors.

🚫 Bottom line:
There is no conclusive evidence that using Tylenol during pregnancy causes autism. It’s important to talk to your OB-GYN before taking any medication, but blanket fear-mongering or misinformation can do more harm than good, especially if it leads to untreated pain or fever in pregnancy.

📣 Always check health claims, even from public figures, against real medical research and advice from licensed professionals.

Now the fact about the study: Let’s take a sample space of 2,000 people which is composed of people where the percentage of those allergic to aspirin is 10 times higher than normal levels in the general population. We do a study exactly like the one that we referenced. Oh look, no increased incidence of allergic responses. That’s exactly what is wrong with the study you have in hand. The percentage or autism is already higher than in the normal range for the general population. It’s so ridiculously high that almost any change could be an improvement

I work with doctors, and all of them for several years have told their pregnant patients to limit the use of Tylenol.

Do you know how Tylenol works ? Of course not, nobody knows how it works. I don’t relish putting things in my body when I don’t know what it’s going to do to me

Even the makers of Tylenol don't recommend that pregnant women use any of their products without guidance by their Dr. ...Tylenol is not a benign medication some people think is harmless. Chronic use, high doses and overdoses result in definite scientifically proven liver damage and failire. Why would you take the chance? Just to prove a point? You're assessment of this is off base but I'm sure your motivation for this video was more about trying to disprove Trump.

Correlation doesn’t equal causation but that doesn’t mean that one is free from harm if it’s used. So here’s the deal, go swimming in shark infested water, you are safe because you didn’t eat ice cream
