The mistake everyone makes when using the microwave is blasting it full power the whole way. I can tell by the nearly carbonized liquid runoff on the plate.
The secret to use your microwave is to adjust the power. Just know that it goes by time on and not actual % strength.
90% power on a microwave means it will be on 90% of the time at 100% power, not give 90% strength of 100% power.
With this knowledge you can stop burning food, cook/thaw frozen things better, and generally treat your microwave a lot better.
The microwave is not the dinky cooking utility that most people mistake it for. In the right hands it's a powerful cooking tool.
