The BMJ paper included studies with a follow up period of 3.5 to 32 years. Iโ€™m not sure this is going to tell me how much protein to eat if I want to live to 100 or 110.

Itโ€™s basically impossible to get 1.6 g per kg if u just eat. You have to plan almost every meal based around your protein. And add a protein shake.

It's not only just protein. We know that there are few amino acids that are linked to muscle growth, but remember we need others as well especially to produce neurotransmitters and hormones. Looking at protein just thought the lens of muscle building is ridiculous, as there are way more important things that amino acids are utilized for.

That's high performance athletes. The studies you quote are generally lower level performers, students or older people, both whose protein demand would be lower even I. EXercise. Growing teens have been shown to need 2.3 plus or minus just to maintain health when growing

If you look at the BMJ article fig 5 it looks like all cause mortality increases (RR above 1) when animal protein goes above 10% of calorie intake
