One of the most important American fighter aircraft of WW II. Not as hailed in pop culture as the P-51 Mustang, but probably more important to the overall effort to win air war in Europe. Excellent service in the PTO as well

Incorrect. One single experimental version, the XP-47J, could hit 505 mph. The P-47M and N, the last two production variants, could do 473 and 467 mph respectively.
