One of the most important numbers to check when deciding which RV to purchase.
Your cargo carrying capacity is how much weight can be placed on your RVs axles on top of the weight of what is already in the RV (cabinets, empty holding tanks, pipes, walls, furniture, etc).
Your Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) is what you add after you take it home; the water you add, the waste in the grey and black tanks, your decorations, your furniture, your food, your extra batteries/solar panels, everything you put inside or on top of the frame of your RV counts towards this.
I had someone tell me at the show that no one gets over 1700lbs - I disagree. Take a moment and start weighing items around you, especially if you are already in an RVâŚ
That @instantpotofficial you love - 50lbsâŚ
Your coffee maker - 5lbs (empty)âŚ
Your laptops, iPads, phones.. all add up quickâŚ
The @ninjakitchen foodie⌠another 50lbsâŚ
(Not literal weight⌠please weigh your own items but consider your items likely weigh more all together than you think)
That already brings you to over 100lbs! Now add food, cooking supplies, your tools, your clothing, toiletries⌠it adds up fast!
If you ever want to check, go to a truck stop like @lovestravelstops and have your set up weighed. You will see how much weight you are combined as well as on each axle. This is so important for towing safety, your axle and frame safety and, one many forget about, your insurance.
If you are overweight in an accident, you can be at fault and not covered.
Always keep an eye out for the CCC before purchasing and after when youâre using your RV to travel.
To follow up with how @riverstone_rv made this RV layout have so much CCC compared to their competitor with the same layout, they added an extra axle and used larger ones. This RV is a triple axle fifth wheel. đđ
Every RV we looked at while at the @floridarvta super show, we checked the CCC. They can range from just over 1000lbs to this beast with over 5000lbs+.
Many number matter, like your hitch weight, total weight (GVWR), but this one tends to get overlooked and matters so much.
Do you know your CCC?
