We were completely shocked by the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. What Lincoln has done to elevate the Nautilus hybrid is truly impressive when you consider how utterly decent the last gen Lincoln Nautilus was. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but compared to class stalwarts like the Lexus RX and Acura MDX, the Lincoln Nautilus felt lacking. This new Lincoln Nautilus adds some style for the sake of style, which is totally find in the luxury SUV class, and it adds sumptuous materials, cool design, and a pretty great ride/handling balance along with the expected convenience features people want in an $80k hybrid luxury SUV. This Lincoln Nautilus is more stylish than the Acura MDX, it's more of an occasion than the Lexus RX, and it's ready to take on the Germans in interior ambience and style vibes... if not overall dynamics. Would you get something like the Lincoln Nautilus over a BMW X5? Maybe. But even if the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus isn't quite there yet, it's SO much better than it was previously, and it's lurking around the Mercedes GLE and Audi Q5 range more than it ever did before. Would we take the Lincoln Nautilus over something like the Cadillac XT5? Aboslutely, no question about it. Over the Acura MDX Type S? Probably. Over the Lexus RX 450h? Yes. Honestly, the only vehicle we've had to test that is demonstrably better and more satisfying in pretty much every way is the last gen BMW X5 PHEV. (We haven't tested the current BMW X5.) But the fact that we just typed that sentence, one comparing the new Lincoln Nautilus with a BMW X5, shows how far Lincoln has come. Keep it up, Lincoln! We're rooting for you. Everyone loves a good comeback story, and the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is one hell of a comeback.
