People who say âUmm, atheists would comfort that child!â And âWow what a strawmanâ arenât listening to what he is saying.
Heâs not saying atheists wonât comfort suffering children. He says that on principle, atheists cannot give a solution to a terminal child and if they were intellectually honest to their beliefs, then there is no meaning or purpose to this child that has no future. But a Christian does have a solution and hope for that child. Thatâs what he means.

Okay so apparently people are getting upset because they donât understand the argument that heâs speaking on.
The topic is based upon worldview. Itâs not a matter of would someone do something or wouldnât they do something. Yes, the vast majority of people would do something to help a kid dying of a terrible disease, whether they are religious or not.
The issue is in worldview, if an atheist is being âhonestâ there is no ultimate meaning to life. There is no objective moral good or evil to this world, as everything that can be labeled as âgoodâ or âevilâ is entirely subjective. We have no moral standard or moral law giver to appeal to that states why this or that is bad, so this makes everything entirely subjective to that person. So if they are being honest with themselves, this kid dying shouldnât be seen as a terrible event. Things are just happening as they are meant to take place and for that we should be okay with it. If we say itâs wrong that must mean we have a moral standard that we are appealing to. That is the reason it should only be seen as a âtough luck kidâ situation and keep moving on.

"In Jesus Christ we have a suffering God." Yes, & no one can argue against that.
