Why? Making a statement to "...love your Lord God..." does not teach your children why they should love him. I am trying to find my way to God. I believe I have been shown certain 'signs', pointing me in the right direction. But it's phrases like this that disinterest me, or rather turn me away from the church.

I have always 'worshipped' in my own way. I was not brought up in a religious family. Yet, when I'm alone in nature, I find myself talking to God. I have a 'blended' faith...one that combines God and Mother Nature, as if they are working in tandem. To honor either is to honor both, in natural stewardship, care, and compassion for all creatures.

I know that the erosion of Christianity, here in North America, is a major contributor to our societal downfall. But 'Bible-thumping God-speak', as I call it, does not sit well with others like me, who are trying to find their way back to their faith...some for the first time.


People like me will not say things like 'praise the Lord' at random...if ever. But we do understand the importance of God...to have faith in His higher power...to have faith in ourselves and others. I am trying to be better, but I can't be that pious Christian, devoid of all sin. I will likely never be...I can only do as much as possible to try and be the best I can now.
