Great line. You are correct about many industries that provide accommodation. People do so at sea ( merchant marine, navy, cruise ship, offshore oil) but also in mining and logging and construction camps.

This is so interesting that you are responding to this video. At least he called them 'staff' instead of workers or something of a lower-caliber type. But this guy just is dumb as rocks. I have seen bits and pieces of this video posted, but only watched this particular one because you commented on it. However, he does need to clarify the 'buying people' part.

Some of my best memories were working on yachts and various boats during the summers in college. Dang near paid off all my college bills in a few short months. Love it!!

You could totally live permanently on a yacht if it’s big enough. The stability is such that you start to forget you’re at sea!

Too funny....
I owned and operated the #1 charter yacht in the world for 10 years. We were heavily booked. And lived on the yacht, sailing the world to be where my guests wanted to be. Taking our guests for a weeks vacation or longer. And we've had well over 2,000 charter guests.
But it's not only that we live onboard our yacht....BUT...our guests paid us 10's of $1,000 of dollars. Wanting to live on our yacht too, for their vacation.
And because they had such an awesome time....living and sailing on our yacht. That their friends would turn around and book us too....wanting to live on a yacht for their vacation!!

As smart as this guy is about space, he's pretty dense when it comes to everyday life and grasping the human element of reality... I have to wrap my head around contemplating the infinite universe, not the fact that people live on boats months at a time.

Having a great, interesting job is fantastic. If this yacht owner gives you a great environment to live on, WHY NOT ? As you said he called it home, so it is his home and for sure having great people around him with similar interest. Is it better to run from 9 to 5 to office, maybe each way maybe 1 hour on the way, having a frustrating job and earn peanuts and just waiting for Friday or Saturday to.get drunk ? I for myself in younger age I would love to have your ( stupid named ) slave job.

Some yacht staff make 6 figures and live luxury life-styles, traveling all over the world. They don't pay rent, they don't pay for utilities, or food. Do this job for 5-7 years and you are set.
