Playing MD for three years and not having to pay a cent, this is why I love this game. I would consider playing in paper if the products were more similar to the OCG, with cards in multiple rarities so decks become affordable but people can still get higher rarities if they want to.

Just getting some friends into the game with some starter decks is also a great idea because as long as someone doesn’t ruin the fun by buying a competitive meta deck you can just play with your friends and test out a ton of different strategies for cheap sense you don’t need the most meta decks just to play against that one friend who refuses to play anything but blue eyes.

Tbh what I have done is playing my pet decks and slowly get staples as they get reprinted, I won't win a lot short term, but I get to play and enjoy the game. Purrely, Crystal Beast, Striker, weather painters... They might not be all that amazing and new but I love them and always get to come back to them and develop on the lists, I want to build galaxy eyes next!

Battlin Boxer, Sharks, and Rescue-Ace are three very fun decks that I made for less than 50$ each. Plus all of the structure decks that came out recently, like Crimson King, are still pretty cheap. I hate this idea that because you can't afford one of the top 3 decks means you can't enjoy Yugioh. Sure, you're not gonna be winning any tournaments, but that doesn't mean you can't get a friend or 2 together to play some cheap, low tier jank like the rest of us do and have fun!

My major gripe with yugioh is that it constantly feels like theres too much pressure. I always hear stuff like "if you dont win on turn 1 or MAYBE 2 then youve lost" and that feels terrible

I was a Duelingbook Warrior for a few years before I even started going to locals and I had a blast. There’s much fun to be had even if you’re only playing online.
