Ever wondered how someone can drain a flooded room without a pump, why waterproofing layers are painted bright blue, or why a random drain pipe might be sticking out of the floor? In this video, I break down the three coolest details: the siphon method that uses gravity and air pressure to empty the room with just a plastic bottle, the bright blue waterproofing membrane (like Aquaseal) that ensures full coverage before tiling, and the exposed drain pipe thatโ€™s actually for a toilet yet to be installed. Put it all together, and youโ€™ll see why the whole room was flooded on purpose - to test the waterproofing before finishing the bathroom.

former plumber here, its a shower drain, not a toilet pipe. toilet with a 2 inch pipe is ASKING for a clog. 3 in pipe MINIMUM. plus the shower will be a bit higher than the floor whether ifs a tile shower or a slide in fiberglass one. i love your videos, and you got the first 2 spot on. my dad has done Aquaponics for years, and he has always used the Siphon trick to drain the grow bed for our strawberries back in the day.

It's too small for a toilet waste. More likely a vanity sink waste pipe or maybe a dodgy undersized shower waste

Another thing that uses siphon process is the water clock, it was was made at around 3000 BCE, Ancient Egyptians uses it as timer for their workers, hope u learn something

For the drainage port, since the room is unfinished, the builder will put in additional layer of cement and floor tiles to raise the floor and create the slope to direct waters to the drainage pipe. Leaving some length higher than the floor will ensure the drainage able to flush with the tiles that will be installed later.

it will be cut after the floortiles are installed

Actually thats the shower drain. The green thing is a temporary toilet. The white pipe below that will be the toilet drain.

The bathroom is completely waterproof because the whole bathroom is a shower stall.

The vanity sink drain will be in the wall so it can have a p-trap installed.

Shower drains are usually installed slightly longer in the US as well because the thickness of the tile or the shower pan will determine the height the pipe needs to be. It will be cut after the tile is installed.

Very similar to an auto siphon where it starts when the fluid reaches a certain level and drains it to a much lower level.

As a fish owner, we use a gravel vacuum to deep clean tanks once every few water changes (I do this once a month, but it depends on the tank size). The vacuum acts exactly like the siphon method in this video, as I've observed.

The water proofing is called mapelastic HPG it's made by mapei. I use this sometimes before installing tiles in wet areas I also use redguard that one is made by custom products
