The sound of the engines roaring, never gets old! These big radials are like giant Harleys and the merlins and big Vs sound is like perfection in tuning!

While not the sexiest, my favorite twin engine was the P-61. My pick for the sexiest was the Mosquito.

Dehaviland mosquito was the best aircraft ever. The outright fastest in level flight and carried a heaver bomb load than the flying fortress with only two crew.

Spitfire and a Merlin or P51 and a Merlin for the Americans. I think the neutrals would go with the Spitfire as its jaw dropping beautiful.

Sexiest? No. Beautiful? Yes. Definitely a great release from folks at Grumman proving they really knew their stuff. But my vote for sexiest Grumman bird has to be the F8 Bearcat.

I believe that prop driven war planes, in general, are beautiful aircraft. As I peruse the comments, many that are mentioned would qualify as most beautiful. As I had a relative who died flying a P38 in the Pacific theater I'll choose that one.

Its a great plane, but P38, P51, Spitfire, Mosquito and TA152 take my top slots.

I think the De Haviland Mosquito is better looking - made of plywood and served in interdiction, night fighter and day bomber roles -The nose wheel on that aircraft looks like an afterthought !

You talked right through as the F7F was idling by. It's also one of the finest sounds known to mankind, two P&W R-2800 at idle.

I turned my Bluetooth speaker on and really enjoyed the sound of that F7F Tigercat. Those twin Pratt and Whitney R2800's have a mean and badass sound.
