IVE always heard the term "energiser bunny" in TV shows and stuff but always assumed it was a misnomer since its Duracell who has the bunny. Now after all these years i understand why

As a non American I was getting confused because I thought it was Duracell that had the bunny mascot.

No wonder then why have I always thought "energizer bunny? You mean duracell bunny, right?"

Is there an award for Shorts?
Guess what - there is now. Congratulations JJ on winning the Award for Best Battery Energizer Bunny Short Documentary.

There's a similar situation with Kit Kats, Kit Kats are owned by Nestle, but in the US, they're owned by Hershey with a different recipe because the original Kit Kat owners licensed the rights to them and it outlasted the company itself.

Can you do a video about 1980s mascots that got cool sunglasses? 7up dots, joe camel, the cheetos cheetah... Gotta be a lot of them

I was too young to remember the two original Energizer and Duracell commercials. But, when I was a kid in the 90s, I remember the Energizer bunny commercials playing up the fact that “he keeps going, and going, and going…” (a commercial featuring Darth Vader’s lightsaber losing power is one of the firsts I remember, from 1994) as a way to make endless sequel commercials to the original two. I think that bunny has been more of your typical Cereal-Box-Type-of-Mascot for the past 20 years, which is par for the course these days.

Duracell seemed to pivot well to making commercials telling how reliable they are for household emergencies, natural disasters, emergency responders, etc. It seems like they changed their marketing in a standout way too.

The question is why did Duracell use bunnies.

I'm from Mexico and to me it seems as if this split wasn't very clean because I'm used to seeing both bunnies although, apparently, the return of the energizer bunny is quite recent and Duracell has used it more consistently

In Mexico I've only seen the Duracell bunny and I thought the Energizer one was the same

The interesting thing is that some markets have both. I went to mexico a few months ago, and they had both bunnies

I always say the Durcacell bunny in ads growing up but I think hearing Americans using the term "Energiser bunny" so much has made that just sound like it's the real mascot. I didn't realise that there was a regional split that the two companies just agreed on

I always found it weird when Americans talked about the energizer bunny when “Duracell pupu” is a common name here in Finland for someone acting all hyperactive. Well now I know
