I always wondered this because sunflower seeds are amazing for health and a great source of magnesium and protein and fiber .

Yes, it's true! My grandpa told us back in 1960s already that these oils were good only for his tractor, not for human consumption. Then he taught us to eat sunflower seeds from the sunflower directly.

Hmmmm. I lived on Okinawa for a year. I lived amongst the Okinawans. My land lady ate rice and cooked all their meat in peanut oil. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø
They live the longest and healthiest amongst any other folks in the worl

Just because it was a machine lubricant doesnā€™t make it toxic. Not to defend sunflower seed oil, itā€™s still one of the less healthiest cooking oils. It is better than canola oil though. But the whole ā€œmachine lubricantā€ narrative is a fear tactic. You can use any fatty oil as machine lubricant even lard. Whale fat was used in food, cosmetics, and industrial products. Steam engines use water. Is water bad? Eggs are a natural emulsifier but I never hear you say we shouldnā€™t eat eggs. If you want to point out the dangers of high refined seed oils then stick to their inflammatory properties and increased risk of heart disease and diabetes. Thereā€™s no reason to use the ā€œmachine lubricantā€ boogey man

I want to take that back what I said about sunflower oil. I believe it was corn oil that I had. Now that is a killer.

What about the cold pressed versions? Iā€™m in the UK.

I havenā€™t touched these oils for cooking for at least 4 years after learning this. Just coconut oil, olive oil and extra virgin and sometimes sesame (once per year) for cooking Chinese but not sure of that either.

They do make an organic/non-gmo and unrefined expeller pressed Sunflower oil, most of it comes from Europe and a little from the USA however it is out there to purchase. I don't cook with it, I make Mayonnaise with it. I'm a bit perplexed with his Bobby approved Chosen refined Avocado oil when I looked at the label at the store, as stated below as well šŸ¤” Bobby is still a wealth of great information and I appreciate him however I just don't agree with him on these two items

I agree. I used sunflower oil one time before. It tastes so sickening, that it made me a little sick.
