Whilst this works for some there are some arguments to be made based on leverages or current levels of mobility, but if it isn’t a conscious decision to move away from the textbook style, these pointers might help.

Another consideration is the crossover of stances between squat and deadlift.

Olympic style squat and conventional deadlift are not too dissimilar patterns as are powerlifting style and low bar style squat. You don’t necessarily want to exhaust out similar patterns in comp if one affects the other.

That being said, I typically Olympic style squat in powerlifting comps and conventional deadlift as carry over to the other disciplines I’m interested in is higher with more knee extension bias. (Strongman,weightlifting,basketball)
