Surface area?!? With a traditional hull the water is shunted to the *sides*, with your rocker design the water is compressed below the hull generating more resistance to forward motion.

Resistance, a hammer has more Resistance on water and a knife does not. The square formula had more Resistance against water than the knife boat. Use the curvature of aerodynamics.

I'm not an engineer but I think it's a correct assessment. Also, there may be a area of high and lower pressure on the opposite sides of that hump? Not sure
