Haha one of the cats I had would get that "ridge" down her back when she's eating or otherwise doesn't want the others to approach. She's the only cat that I noticed doing at. Others would just puff up. Didn't know birds can do that with feathers. I've seen hackles raised to say back off. Does the ridge mean anything in particular?

It’s as simple as building trust with your bird regarding food… lots of falconers take food away from the glove before the bird can finish causing a mantle behavior. My red tail has no problems because I make sure to not trick her when I give her a certain amount of food on my glove… what’s on it she gets… what she doesn’t want I offer it to her a second time to make sure… easy to prevent… hard to treat
