Houseimprovements and rant is something I thought I'd never see in the same sentence. Always a class act, even in your rants. Thanks for all the help over the years.

I think the issue now is that even though the prices are going back down, retailers want to pass the buck for the ridiculous prices they paid on their stock not so long ago.

Love ur channel
This is pure and simple corporate greed. In my area Baltic birch went from $30.00 to $115.00 all within two years

Lumber prices in May at Home Depot were $9.97 for 2x4x8. Last price I saw was $3 something for the same 2x4.

3/4" OSB tongue & groove is only $32.56 USD at my local Ohio Menards right now. All lumber has come down in price around here this summer.

I know I went to get a sheet of marine grade a week ago and for one 3/4 in it was $179.00!! I asked him if he thought the prices would come down and he said that it was 30-40 cheaper than a few months ago!! Wtf… I said I would be back in the spring to see what the price was then. Lols

Love the channel, it has kept me sane throughout all this going on – so thank you for that!
Just to give you an idea, here in Ireland, a normal stock 16ft length of 4x2 rough timber/lumber (Untreated) was €7.32 ($8.58) before the price rises. Its now €16.50 ($19.34).
We use this stuff everyday and its killing trade here at the moment. There are very few loggers producing in Ireland now as there was already a logging permit case holdup in our high courts here before everything kicked off. So most of our building timber/lumber is being imported from Sweden and Norway currently. It so so bad at the moment.

23/32" OSB $41.28. Down from $75 a sheet in North Florida. Used to be $15 a year and a half ago.

I'm in Australia we have the same problem. I was mentioning to a friend not long ago, I wanted to make a small table for the balcony and the wood was so overpriced it was cheaper to just buy a table, except I wanted something that hung on the balcony itself.

The prices are absurd.

I was planning on replacing the roof on my shed. Walked into the lumber section Lowes and turned around and walked back out. Not going to happen!
