This is a very common view. Lots of people believe Israel should be allowed to do the same, and they have a list of western values why. It's realpolitik and emulates American (and all past imperial) attitudes to strategic interests. To act shocked and pretend this is an alternative view of geo-politics post WWII is ridiculous.

She's defending the same behaviour that was accepted before World War 2 when Germany under the other dictator invaded the Sudetenland which ended up with the whole of Czechoslovakia being conquered before he turned his attention on Poland. That turned out well for the world didn't it?
We really need to have reform in our education system protected from political interference by having it ratified by referendum so that our kids don't grow up as thick as politicians (of any hue) want them to be.
