China is an economic powerhouse built on poverty, higher economic output doesn't suddenly unhunger the people

By "out of poverty" it was defined as the removal of 800 million citizens barely from below poverty line status it didn't mean that they were earning high or even median incomes

China’s limited prosperity for the last 40 years was built on American and European investment and outsourcing. Without that, the country would be the same as Mauritiana or Eritrea today. Bill Clinton signed China into the WTO which propelled the country into huge economic growth. I think you should take off your mask, get some fresh air and read some history before making such ignorant statements

These comments are so brain dead. How hard is it to understand that an authoritarian government with no barriers is going to be more efficient and in turn make more progress under competent leadership.

As an American who lived in the "real China for 5 years and not a foreign bubble (just recently came back just before the pandemic) thanks for keeping the truth out there. I can't tell you how many times I have run into these conversations.

…with our money, and unlimited potential. If we perhaps had been there for nation building and not exploitation, the culture would be very different. Now it has become sick.

Cast aside the rulers and look at the heart of the mother land the people are who made it work. Remember a nation isn't a nation based on the military it's a nation based on the masses

I can't completely agree with this
Not that we can't learn, but thay china isn't as good as it seems
Those people still live in poverty
Just constantly monitored poverty with social credit scores where you lose credit for literally just j walking
I don't think we can't learn anything from them, but if we start doing Tofu drag, our cities would legit crumble. If anything, chinna needs to be more authoritative over organizations ruining peoples lives rather than the people just trying to live every day

For once, you did the right thing: learning instead of blaming

Edit: reading comment sections makes me disappointed of how many people with narrowed-minded disagree to learn from their enemies. No wonder why China becomes so strong nowadays thanks to these people's discrimination.

We have a lot to learn from the Republic of China, also known as Taiwan.

Yeah, but they've already hit wage stagnation at £10k/year. In their equivalent.
