This is so helpful. Sometimes, “I don’t know” can come out naturally but it’s not going to make things easier though.

So glad I found this channel, while other channels are spreading fear and useless talks, you are giving pure facts, thank-you, hopefully I'll meet you someday in person 😊

Maybe, maybe not, it depends. Ive gone into interviews full bore honesty, and they could sense it. When you're extremely up front and honest you might be surprised at what happens.

I'll say something like, "That's not specifically something I've done, but based on your description, I think I would . . . "

I am actually confident that I can learn anything! People are not really as smart as they like to think. Most of the time they have just being doing the same thing over and over.

I still feel like you have to know someone to get a job today.

I’m getting multiple interviews and multiple rejections. The interviews I’ve been getting lately have been informative and interesting and long (at least an hour or longer of questions from both sides seeing wether we’re both a fit for each other). After the second follow up email or phone call I get the rejection email within 24 hours.

I also see people in the industry offering courses and their students are landing 2 wfh positions upon completing the program. These positions that require 3-5 years of experience and people with no experience are getting the jobs.

I was asked if I knew a specific program that I was actually learning at that time. I answered with "I'm teaching myself that exact program."
I got the job.

I answer with a question that is ambiguous to derail the attempt, then I focus on how the company does things.

Why not?

I have had interviewers answer my question with "I don't know".

What's good for the goose....

HR: why should we hire you?
Candidate: Well, I've acquired the similar experience. 😂

I don't think anyone just says "I don't know" and nothing else, at least not in any professional corporate capacity. I get what he's saying but to me it feels like 90s toxic mentality, empty phrases like "___ is committed" and other PRspeak that I'd hope any place I'd work for would neither engage in nor tolerate.

I had a great interview once, until there was one question to which I thought…I don’t know. My solution was to make up something smooth on the spot, and I think I pulled it off.

- Hi, this is Joe. You interviewed me two weeks ago, do you guys have a date for a feedback?
- I don't know.

Earlier this year I was in a technical interview and was asked how to solve a problem. The senior tech guy set up the hypothetical scenario and asked how I would solve it. I talked through the way that I would troubleshoot it and what I thought that problem and solution was. The guy asking the question kept saying that it wasn't the answer he was looking for. I finally said: I don't know...

The senior tech guy then told me the answer that he was looking for. The scenario he set up and his proposed solution did not match. In fact, it would be impossible as it violated networking principles and the fundamentals of IP routing. I told him so and he got upset and told his boss to end the interview. I obviously didn't get that job.

I have been asked an interview question and the interviewer stated that I could not provide any of the ad-lib answers as my final answer. When saying ad-lib, meaning you can provide anything but the answer they are expecting. I accepted it and moved on.

If you’re being asked questions you don’t know the answers to, say so, and put your phone on airplane mode.

Got asked a technical question by political admin director who gave feedback to the recruiter that made it all up when I actually just described a newer method of efficient data access. Clowns
