correction: originally Portugal had territories spread all over the world, and not just Macau, Azores and Madeira

Good. But Macau was not an autonomous region as Azores and Madeira...simply it was recognized as chinese territory under portuguese administration according to Constitution of 1976 and it was given to China in 1999.
