Giant Hairy Triton Shell [Cleaned with a Bleach Bath] #shorts

G'day everyone! Wow, what a transformation! If you want to see how and where I found this seashell, have a look at my shelling channel where I go to the beach and have a silly amount of fun looking for shells. I found this particular one here:    • Finding Seashells at Low Tide | Sea Urchin...

This Giant Hairy Triton (Monoplex parthenopeus) was originally inhabited by a snail. That snail created a hairy outer layer on it's shells, called a periostracum, that makes the shell look like it's covered in hair. The hairs are SUPER AWESOME until they dry... then they look crusty! For this one, the hairs were covered in algae too, which I believe is what cause the initial fizzing when I first dropped the shell into the liquid. Anyhoo, a bit of bleach took care of it in no time!

This is all I’ve got for everyone today... but if you’re looking for more shelling content, I put a lot of extra bonus footage in the form of outtakes onto my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SandCoffeeRocks

Awesome how Mr. Triton came so clean. I am happy the ocean cleaned my shells for me. This takes a lot of time the more seashells you have to do.. Thank you. XXOO. TRUDY

What kind of bleacher do you use? We have found a wonderful, large Cowrie on Mauritius, but its covered with a white film... Sponge and toothbrush with a bit of vinegar didn't help yet.
