He slowly gained popularity since around season 2 of league of legends (12 years ago I think) because he and his partner Quentin were the unofficial spanish casters. He clearly loved listening to football (soccer) games in his youth, because his casting style is very similar to spanish radio broadcasters in the 2000s, imo; very fast paced, energetic and passionate.

Then, a few years ago, he partnered with Gerard Piqué, one of the most famous spanish football players of the last 20 years (he played in Barcelona during the Guardiola years, winning multiple major tournaments and leagues, on top of winning 2 eurocups and 1 world cup with the spanish team): after this, Ibai gained an immense budget and was able to host some of the biggest twitch events of all time, including the one that Thor mentions in the clip, which was his yearly boxing event (la velada del año, many people talked about it on these comments already). The best part is that he also lifts other spanish creators up, like knekro, who originally was a league youtuber on the early years of the game, and is now a quite successful variety streamer.

Ibai truly worked to get where he is, and I don't know of a single person who dislikes him. He got famous not because of drama like many others, but through pure quality and hard work. I feel proud of having watched some of his first league streams over 10 years ago, and now seeing him officially co-stream league worlds
