I do a lot of chemical IC decap for SEM imaging on modern components these videos make me realize just how far we have come so quickly.
You ever want to see one of these on an ultra high resolution SEM with chemical analysis shoot me a message.

This is a top shelf post. You explained everything I wanted to know about this IC. Why it was made, what it's used in, how it works, and more. Amazing job. Thanks.

This thyristor based matrix switch (4x4) is similar with the more popular RCA CMOS 4x4 analog matrix switch CD22100 or the dual matrix version CD22102.
Yes, I had played with them, many, many years ago.

I think more about what’s inside an RC4444 than I do about the Roman Empire

I had no idea you could use SCRs for analog signal switching

Problem I found, replacing relays with SCRs, is the extreme easy how SCR will stop conducting in presence of a <1 μS negative pulse on the power supply line. Those pulses are induced by any inductive or capacitive component in parallel with the supply, and are too fast to be shunted by a standard electrolytic capacitor.
An RS flip flop driving a FET switch was my solution at the time, not SCRs...
